Where I'm

coming from

I love Brasil. After a trip to Brasil where I got to experience Lapa (pictured above)I decided to DJ Brazilian music. People ask me why Brasil? So I tell them this:

When I was a child I saw Pele play on Wide World of Sports on ABC. I asked my mother, "Who is the black man with the strange accent?" My mother answered, "That's Pele. He's from Brasil."

"They have black people in Brasil?" I asked astonished.(I was only 5 years old.)

With a chuckle and a smile she replied "There are black people all over the world."

This sent my head swimming, the thought that black people wern't only in America or Africa, but all over the world and Brasil was one of those places where black people lived. As I grew up, I developed a passion for music. I noticed that most music had drums. All nations had drums and the drums of the African Diaspora where my favorite. It tied everything together- R&B, Rock and Roll, Hip Hop/Rap, Salsa,(and it's root forms), Samba etc...So I'm on a journey, kind of a game of Hide and Seek, looking for those drums, those beats that point the way to my genetic homeland and makes me appreciate everyone on the planet. This site, although focused on Brazilian Music, will also feature other genres that I hope you will enjoy.
